MY RESPONSE TO JUDGE ARRINGTON

The issue was not that he was sitting in the car. The issue was that he was sitting in the car, pressing the gas pedal, banging into another car, and endangering the life of the GSP officer who was leaning into Deadwyler's car.

Thanks so much to you and Tina Trent for keeping the light on at the courthouse. Marvin is at it again in an article posted online today in the AJC about alleged murderers getting bond, and as is apparent to anyone with at least two working neurons, doesn't look too good as a responsible official. His lack of logic and sound reasoning is truly astounding.

Hmm, had the officers attempted to ascertain the suspect was deaf? Exactly how were they supposed to do that, and why would anyone make that assumption without specific knowledge of it? Wasn't it the suspect's responsibility to inform the police that he couldn't hear commands given to him? Isn't every adult citizen responsible for making a minimal effort to comply with orders of peace officers?

I would think the assumption was evident that he had seen them, hence his flight by vehicle. Unless he normally runs the streets at 4AM at reckless high speeds so as to collide with other vehicles.

As for the suspect's statements, that, Judge Arrington, is entirely irrelevant. The suspect *knew* he was HIV Positive, and thus he knew when he bit the officer that he was committing an aggravated assault that was likely to cause the death of the officer, and thus, his intent can be assumed. If someone shoots at another person, their intent to commit grievous bodily harm or death is demonstrated by their actions. We do not need any statement as to their intent, their actions demonstrate it quite sufficiently. As a judge, I would think that you would be aware of that. If you aren't, then I question your competence as a judge or even as an attorney.

As for a lack of criminal past, well, I guess he decided to jump to the criminal side in a very big way all at once. However, his lack of a criminal history doesn't mean he isn't currently a danger to society, nor is it any excuse for his actions. The fact that he received such a light sentence ensures that he isn't likely to rehabilitate himself, and it certainly won't provide a deterrent to others thinking about behaving violently toward the police or society at large.

But I guess you are making sure you have job security for your future, Judge Arrington.

I only hope you feel the same mercy if you are ever the victim of such a crime.
