The mansion revisited

Gwinnett’s district attorney plans to pursue the final charges in the Mansion Madam case against an Emory urologist

Part Two: “Cowboy” and “Neal B.”

Much of the evidence against Taylor was provided by her husband, Ian Martin, who, according to court documents, would leave the house while she serviced her clients. Gwinnett County investigators related in the narrative of the case that “Martin asked to come forward with testimony regarding Taylor’s nefarious activities in exchange for recommended legal counsel in his pending divorce.” (As of this writing, Taylor and Martin are still married.)

It was also Martin who told investigators that “DCT,” the letters Taylor scrawled next to her clients’ names in her contacts book, “referred to ‘Dream Come True’ or ‘Dream date,’” which, according to court documents, “means sexual acts with Taylor … He further advised that well-known clients are listed with their first name only.”

In her appointment book, Taylor listed more than 120 clients denoted with the acronym “DCT.” Almost all are listed with both first and last name. Only four are not. Of the four, two are from out of town: “Kenric” in Newark, N.J. and “Dennis” in Blue Mound, Ill. The other two, “Cowboy” and “Neal B.” are local.

When The Sunday Paper called Cowboy’s number, the man who answered said it was a business phone and he couldn’t talk. He denied any knowledge of Lisa Ann Taylor or Melissa Wolf and said the number belonged to a refrigeration company. Attempts to reach Neal B. were unsuccessful (click here to listen to The Sunday Paper’s attempts to reach him).

Porter could only pursue charges against johns whose transactions with Taylor had been corroborated by witnesses, as well as wiretapped conversations between the johns and Taylor. Gwinnett County police listened to Taylor and Probert’s phone conversations and read their text messages from early December 2006 until early January 2007. Through requests made under the Georgia Open Records Act, The Sunday Paper has obtained recordings of all of the wiretapped conversations. By listening to the contents of more than 1,000 audio files accounting for nearly a month of wiretapping, the paper has discovered information related to the case that has not been reported previously.

In many wiretapped conversations, Taylor and Probert talked about trafficking in prostitution across state lines, a federal offense. Another woman, working under the name of “Amanda Foxx,” and Taylor also discussed working in New York, and photos downloaded from Wolf’s Web site show the two of them with Probert in Florida. All three also worked legitimately as exotic dancers and “models.”

Porter relayed the information to the FBI, the agency that investigates crimes committed across state lines, but they weren’t interested. The bureau, through Spokesman Steve Emmett, declined comment for this story.

“The agent I talked to told me that their resources were spread so thin that they just couldn’t pursue it,” says Porter. “And, they probably also thought about how they would need to build a case that involved only small amounts of cocaine, ‘eight balls,’ and would result in only a misdemeanor possession charge.”

They were busy, according to Porter, with homeland security concerns as well as hunting down people who were prostituting children via the Internet.

What to do when you’re $300 short

Meanwhile, there were more than 120 men listed in Taylor’s client contacts who would never be charged with anything because there was no evidence to connect them to a sexual act performed for money—other than comments on client information sheets about previous services.

And then, there was Morgan, the Emory Urologist who was surprised to hear from The Sunday Paper that Porter planned to pursue charges against him. Returning The Sunday Paper’s call from his office at Emory on June 4, Morgan acknowledged that Taylor was his neighbor and said he had “heard something about” the Mansion Madam case. When asked if he knew that his conversations with Taylor had been wiretapped, he responded, “No, no.” He referred all other questions to his attorney.

However, a witness list for the case against Kruzel among the public records at the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s office includes Morgan’s name and notes that he was represented by the firm of Andersen, Tate and Carr.

Audio files of Morgan’s conversations with Taylor detail Morgan’s attempt to set up an appointment with Taylor that would end a little more than an hour before his wife was expected to arrive home on the evening of Dec. 8, 2006.

In a series of conversations that day, Taylor tells Foxx that she has an appointment with “some clown … this doctor in the neighborhood” and that she plans to tell him about Foxx. Later, Morgan calls Taylor and they discuss price and the nature of the transaction. Morgan—who almost never fails to identify himself by his full name in the conversations—says “I’m married” and “sometimes my wife carries my phone.” He also confides that he’s nervous and adds, “You’re no rookie at this, are you Melissa? I’m a rookie.”

He further relates that he left home with only $500 cash—not the appointment’s asking price of $800. Taylor responds that she takes credit cards, and that the charges show up under the name of SE and Associates. She says the initials stand for “Simply Exercise,” and that if anyone looks it up, they will find a fitness business. Given that he is $300 short, Morgan suggests that instead of “full entertainment” Taylor can perform “good oral sex or something.”

Then they discuss his preferences. He asks her if she smokes.

“Do you like, you smoke cigars any?” he asks.

Taylor: “No, but I’ve got some for people who do.”

Morgan: “Oh do ya? You don’t smoke? You smoke cigarettes?”

Taylor: “Not really, but I do if it’s requested.”

Morgan: “I think it’s pretty sexy.”

Taylor: “Do you have a smoking fetish?”

Morgan: “Yeah, I think it turns me on.”

Taylor: “I can handle that.”

She tells him that she will leave the garage door up so that he can discreetly park his car. Gwinnett County police, who were watching Taylor’s house while they listened to her phone calls, noted the arrival of Morgan’s car and traced the license number.

After the appointment, Morgan calls Taylor and says, “You were awesome, baby.” He tells her he wants to see her again and hopes this is the beginning of a long relationship. He also says he will buy her a Christmas present. She asks for Godiva chocolates.

In a later conversation with Foxx, Taylor describes Morgan as an “idiot” and complains that he paid only $500.

(Morgan would call back a week later seeking another appointment and begging her not to return his call because he was worried his wife would find out. He said he would call her later.)
Taylor also tells Foxx that Morgan has left her some Cialis, Levitra and Viagra, which she plans to use personally and give to clients. Foxx cautions her against this, pointing out that if a client is taking nitro glycerin (for a heart condition or high blood pressure), Viagra might be dangerous for him.

Drugs are a topic of many of the recorded conversations. Some of those discussed had been prescribed to Taylor, including Xanax and Loritab. She relates in one wiretapped conversation that she gets stressed out and has “outbreaks” and is on 1,000 milligrams of medication for the condition. She also uses cocaine so copiously, she tells her friends, that her nose is “f**ked up” and she needs to go away to the mountains to get away from all the people who are “coming over every night and doing blow … that’s all we do.” At one point she says her drug dealer is “shoving” the cocaine up her nose.

Drug charges against some of those connected to the case were dropped in exchange for cooperation with authorities. District Attorney Porter says more arrests could have been made, even outside of Gwinnett County, and more charges would have stuck.

“But we had to consider the Gwinnett County impact of doing that,” he says, explaining the relationship between resource-intensive investigations and misdemeanor charges.

For Porter, the pending charges against Morgan represent the wrap-up of the only prostitution case he has handled in the more than 20 years that he has worked for Gwinnett County.

As for Taylor, according to her Web site, she is available for photo shoots these days, for which she charges $300 for the first hour, $200 each additional hour, or $1,000 for a full day shoot. She also offers $99 “Naughty Calls” with a DVD with “the alleged Mansion Madam.” It’s not $500 for good oral sex, but it’s a living. SP

Dear Sunday Paper
Why do you break copyright law? Your graphic used pictures from Melissa's web site, each one flashed the copyright notice before you copied it. Republication would not be permitted. Furthermore, pictures on the left side including the interior of her house would have been copied from the realtor site. Her realtor is a good friend and would not have permitted a republication for your article.
Shame on you! Melissa have have grounds for a lawsuit. You go, girl!
Hugs for Melissa

Dear Sunday Paper
Me again. There are several inaccuracies in your article. I noticed that you pulled down one of the wiretaps, probably because someone's name was mentioned who was not in the article and had nothing to do with the wiretap. I heard it before you took it down and I know him!! You should consider taking down some others. I can forsee many problems for you legally if you leave them up.
Shame on you!
Hugs for Melissa!!

Dear Sunday Paper
Just me again. I happen to know for a fact that the xanex/cocktail joke was just that... a joke. You have misrepresented that statement into something that is very close to slander implying that she wanted to do just that!
Shame on you.
Hugs for Melissa!!!

manny kroger, ever heard of the 1st Amendment? this is an investigative news story on a high profile criminal investigation that's been all over the national news for months -- the paper has every right to show us (in color photos, to be precise) exactly what our neighbors are doing right next door. thankfully, in this country, you can't censor news coverage of an ongoing criminal investigation by slapping a copyright label on a photo. If that's the way you want your press, go move to Russia.

kudos SP for some excellent investigative reporting. wish this town had more papers with the guts to break stories like this one.

Good morning Mr. Mike South:

I have reposted your original comments below. I took the liberty of taking them off the site Saturday pending advice from our counsel re: any possible legal issues involved in your post about the identity of "Neal B." in our story. Based on what you allege regarding that person's identity, I'm sure you understand our caution. Your original post from Saturday follows. Thanks for reading and for visiting our Web site.

You guys are complete idiots.

I know who Neal B is and I know how and why is name is in her book.

Lisa is my friend as is Neal, we all had lunch together ONE time and it was determined that she might do a n on air appearance at some point, as I have several times.

Neal is in my book as well and I am a porn Director, does that make him a porn star.

The lack of integrity of this report is appalling.

The "Neal B." in question is listed with a "DCT" next to his name. As the court records show, "DCT" is an acronym for "dreams come true" and Taylor used it to denote a client. I am sorry if this "Neal B." is a friend of yours and you feel embarrassed for him or protective of him, etc. But is it not possible, Mr. South, that this is not the "Neal B." of whom you are thinking? After all, how intimately acquainted with Ms. Taylor's appointment book were/are you? By the way, those images are all included in the criminal file which is a public record in the District Attorney's office. The 1st Amendment is a beautiful thing, as surely a porn director can attest.

As for the comment about the audio files--they're going back up..there was a delay. However, all of this has everything to do with the investigation. We got those audio files from the actual investigation file in the D.A.'s office.

Stephanie, honey....reading is fundamental try reading the passage again

In her appointment book, Taylor listed more than 120 clients denoted with the acronym “DCT.” Almost all are listed with both first and last name. Only four are not. Of the four, two are from out of town: “Kenric” in Newark, N.J. and “Dennis” in Blue Mound, Ill. The other two, “Cowboy” and “Neal B.” are local.

It clearly states that DCT was NOT associated with Neal B.

Mike

Oh and lets talk about DCT

Heres what it really means

" yes it does stand for “Dream Come True” which is lunch or dinner at a restaurant of your choice or perhaps a day at the mall or a dance or a photo session. I have attached a newspaper article from my scrap book not sure if you can read the date, but yes I did “Dream Dates” for Charity, lots of Charities and did them for years"

Mike South, please allow me to assist you in your reading. Usually, as I am sure your grade school teacher taught you, a sentence is modified by either the sentence before or after it, given that there is no dependent clause (hence the sentence stands alone). That being the rule, please note the sentence exactly previous to the one you cite. Now, let's try this again. Take a deep breath and now, read the sentence just before it..."Almost all are listed with both first and last name. Only four are not. Of the four, two are from out of town: “Kenric” in Newark, N.J. and “Dennis” in Blue Mound, Ill. The other two, “Cowboy” and “Neal B.” are local."
Aha! See that? That's right, Mike, it refers to the sentence about how almost all are referred to by both first and last name, but these are not. All of this is of course an explanation of the previous paragraph which relates how Taylor only listed the first names of well-known clients. I have no more time for you and your attempts to identify someone whom we have not identified, or rather your attempt to cash in on short term notoriety. Why don't you go back to the Loaf where they are more than happy to do cover stories about your work?

Stephanie Ramage
Monday, June 09, 2008 at 1:58 PM

It pretty clearly states that Cowboy and Neal B. were the only two marked DCT that didn't have their last names listed. Plus, didn't Stephanie write this story? How could she be the one reading it incorrectly?

Anyway, looks like Mike South is the first one to start bringing any allegations of identity to the table here.

Shwoops.

Well here's the bottom line. In a way I am responsible for all this nonsense. I introduced the two of them. Lisa came to lunch with me one day when I was having lunch with Neal.

He has never hidden the fact that he and I are friends, I have been a guest on his show several times and we have a personal friendship as well. I am also friends with Allen Hunt, does that mean he is up to no good too?

Not one person from this magazine bothered to ask me anything, because if they had there wouldn't be a story.

I know what you are trying to do here you are trying to build readership for your little fish wrapper. You are using an old and played out story and trying to breathe new life into it.

Do you honestly think that publicity whore Danny Porter wouldn't have had a field day if there was one shred of evidence of wrong doing on Neals part...I mean here's a man that would trample a half dozen babies to get his face on camera.

If you want to create a worthy newspaper stop trying to imitatate The Weekly World News and do some real Journalism.

"Trite? Perhaps so ... cliché? You bet. True? Absolutely. You are known by the company you keep ..." -"Neal B." speaking about Barack Obama's relationship with Rev. Jeremiah Wright (Nealz Nuze, March 17, 2008 - http://boortz.com/nuze/200803/03172008.html)

I doubt Neal B. is really your friend, Mr. South. I find it hard to believe that someone as self-absorbed and shallow as you has ANY real friends. On the other hand, we are talking about Neal B.

Stephanie, I shouldn't have to tell you this but when you want the truth about something go straight to the source. It's pretty well known that I introduced Lisa Taylor and Neal B, so wouldn't someone looking for the real story take the time to ask me? The AJC did, so did WSB, hell even Hustler Magazine did.

As for vote obama congratulations man, you proved yourself to be an idiot. I'd rather tell people I had a sister in a whorehouse than a brother a stupid as you.

OK I have wasted enough time on this thats the end bye y'all have fun. GFY Sunday Paper

Mike, you're missing one critical point here.

Our story at no time makes any allegation as to the identity of the "Neal B" found in Lisa Ann Taylor's records--or of anyone else named in her records who has not been arrested or charged with anything in connection with her case. The only one doing that, you might notice, is you. Our story merely reports verifiable facts we've uncovered--no more, no less.

We agree on one thing, though: You seem to be wasting your time getting angry at The Sunday Paper for-- what? For not contacting you for information about someone who is neither clearly identified in those records nor is charged with any crime?

Again, thanks for writing to us and for reading The Sunday Paper.

It's obvious that the situation with Miss Taylor is merely a smoke screen to make one appear reputable in an increasing political climate. The situation is viewing Lisa as an example to be exploited by the politicians and attorneys. The reason the IRS did not pursue this issue any further is because there was not anything to pursue. When you live in a society that downgrades independent businesses in turn the larger organizations should be held accountable. If you are attempting to find ethical issues within in in doings from Miss Taylor then you should take a long hard look into your self and understand how what is being done is only hendering the progress of society. In short let go making a name for your self from a vastly negative perspective. It's ironic when you realize that she maybe more qualified for your position than you are. If anything the IRS and the FBI should investigate those that seek to abuse their power by making others look like scum. There are obviuosly those that Have her back and I am proud to say that I am in deed one of them. Love to Lisa ,BGW

I am the estranged soon to be ex-husband that you indicated provided "Much of the evidence against Lisa Taylor."
Based on my painfully ingrained recollection of events, I am compelled to respond to your article. You or your sources have made some errors in the facts. I was approached by the DA office and was informed that I might be charged with producing pornography in GA; Guilty by association you might say. At that time, I responded by saying " I thought I couldn't be asked to testify against my Wife". They then responded with, as we were separated, that may not be the case. Yes I decided to speak to them several weeks later, once I was aware that they already had several other testimonies of complicit witnesses, and I would not be a factor in building their case. Yes I did tell them that DCT meant Dream Come True. Lisa used that reference for Innocent paid dinner dates ending with a private lap dance with her many fans for years. Yes I admitted to leaving the house during her private DCT as far as I know LE knew that already also. I did ask for a reference for a divorce lawyer, it made sense to me at the time. Who better to ask then the DA office! Contrary to popular belief, I am being billed monthly for his service. Although most of your readers may think my corrections to your report is just semantics, it is not for me. I have been subjected to a great deal of slanderous and prejudicial comments in my defunct sphere of influence and in the public domain. Gossip that has resulted in hate e-mail, threats, and job loss. I provided much of nothing. Too bad you missed out on the sordid details of those who did!

^^ Sounds to me, who has no stake in this, that Ian is going to be owing the law enforcement agencies some money for all this wasted time and effort. Anyone who can't see this for what it is is a little..well...extreme or the paranoid type. Big waste of taxpayer money is right...and smearing a lot of local people with it...not good press for the law agencies is it? Following up on sour grapes from a peeed off soon-to-be ex-oldman. Funny, a lot of these claims are similar in D-cases with entertainers and the Atlanta public should either be turned off by it or outraged. Seems there are some privacy issues being disregarded here as well. Good Luck Mel...hope the dead weight gets its due. V

Duh, the voice in the link above is obviously Boortz.
If I was an attorney for a client arrested, charged and publicly humiliated in this matter, I'd want to know why "Neal B" has gotten a pass.
