WARM HEARTS AND COLD NOSES VALENTINE’S GALA
The evening features silent and live auctions, as well as cuisine prepared by Villa Christina. COLD SASSY TREE
The Atlanta Opera presents this production based on the classic novel. The show opens Saturday, Feb. 2 and continues through Feb. 10 at the Cobb Energy Centre. IN RED AND BROWN WATER
Drawing on Lorca and Yoruban folk culture, this show follows a girl facing difficult choices regarding her athletic abilities, college attendance and care for her ailing mother.  Playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney's script was chosen as the winner of the 2007 Kendeda Graduate Playwriting Competition. Feb. 1-24 at the Alliance Theatre. Performances are at 8 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, at 2:30 and 8 p.m. Saturday and at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday. No matinee is performed Saturday, Feb. 2. RESURRECTION
This True Colors Theatre Company production, the first look at a play by slam poet champion Daniel Beaty, follows six men, ages 10 to 60, whose lives are connected. Previews of the show are Thursday, Jan. 31 and Friday, Feb. 1 at the 14th Street Playhouse. The play opens Saturday, Feb. 2 and continues through Feb. 17. THE DROWSY CHAPERONE

DUKE ELLINGTON’S SOPHISTICATED LADIES

DUKE ELLINGTON’S CAT
This puppet show presents the story of the jazz musician from his pet’s perspective. The show continues through March 16 at the Center for Puppetry Arts.. THE LOUVRE AND THE ANCIENT WORLD
This exhibit features more 70 works from the cultures of Greece, Rome and Egypt. COURAGE: THE VISION TO END SEGREGATION, THE GUTS TO FIGHT FOR IT
This exhibit tells the story of Rev. J.A. De Laine and other citizens of Clarendon County, S.C. as they fought to end the legal segregation of schools. Their lawsuit was one of five that led to the Supreme Court case Brown v. Board of Education. The exhibit is on display through June 22 at the Atlanta History Center. The center is also home to the Centennial Olympic Games Museum, the 1845 Tullie Smith Farm, the Swan House and 33 acres of gardens. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $15 for adults, $12 for students ages 13 and up and senior citizens and $10 for ages 4 to 12.
