The ATL may not be so great at fielding a consistently winning hockey team these days, but if the NHL All-Star Weekend was any indication, we sure know how to throw a party. Downtown Atlanta was a nonstop whirl of concerts and events, from Wyclef Jean and Old 97’s rocking the Tabernacle on Jan. 25 to an early-bird Saturday morning performance from The Jonas Brothers emceed by Usher, Alyssa Milano (shown) and “Friday Night Lights” star Taylor Kitsch—not to mention appearances by Ne-Yo, The Hives, OneRepublic and a host of hockey stars. There was even a trading card and memorabilia show featuring 3,000 limited-edition Marian Hossa action figures from McFarland Toys. Oh, yeah—there was a game, too, which the Eastern Conference won handily, thanks to former Thrasher Marc Savard—with an assist from Atlanta’s golden boy Ilya Kovalchuk. Good job, boys.
