With the arrival of spring, soon the cold weather and April showers will be left behind and a steady supply of sunshiny days will emerge. What better time to liven up your skin than now. Need a little help getting that “natural” glow? Just add a little bronzer to your mix.
“Anyone can use bronzer—from the palest of white to the bluest of black. It’s just all about shade,” explains Jason Cecil, makeup artist and retail director of Atlanta’s Entebello Modern Apothecary & Spa.
For those fair ladies, Cecil suggests a bronzer in cooler shades of bronze or silver shimmer, and deep copper finishes for darker hues. Bronzers come in the form of powders, creams, liquids and even oil. Powder bronzers are ideal for those with oily skin.
Bronzers can be used for the face and body, and should be applied wherever the sun naturally hits your body. These hot spots include the chin, cheeks, and shoulders, in the middle of the forehead, on the tops of thighs and in the middle of calves.
Available in a range of prices and in locations from your neighborhood drugstore to high-end skincare boutiques, enhance your tone with a little shine this season.
CECIL’S TIPS
- - Bronzer can be applied with a blush brush (face), body brush, kabuki brush, as well as with your fingers and hands for cream and oil products.
- - The more skin you have exposed equates to the more places bronzer should be applied. You don’t want a golden, bronzed face and pale shoulders.
- - It can be used year round, but looks better when you already have sun. It just gives that extra pop, shimmer and warmth to skin.
- - If you’re a very fair person without much sun, you should go really easy on the bronzer.
