COKIE ROBERTS
The journalist and author discusses her latest book, “Ladies of Liberty,” which offers compelling stories of women who helped move our fledgling nation forward during from the election of John Adams in 1796 to the election of Andrew Jackson in 1828. 8 p.m. Monday May 12 at the Atlanta History Center. GEORGIA RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL
The annual fair features jousting knights and a host of other performances, as well as plenty of turkey legs and other refreshments. The event continues through June 1 and takes place from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and Memorial Day on the festival grounds off I-85 South at exit 61. 31ST ANNUAL ATLANTA JAZZ FESTIVAL
Enjoy 31 days of jazz at restaurants and venues across Atlanta. The festival also features a Future of Jazz Competition and a Youth Jazz Band Competition, and culminates in a weekend of live music at Robert W. Woodruff Park on Auburn Avenue May 24-26. WHOLE WORLD THEATRE

JOURNEY INTO AMAZING CAVES

BEFORE AND AFTER GAUGUIN: THE ART OF PRINTMAKING IN BRITTANY 1740 TO 1940
This exhibit shows how the French artist Paul Gauguin influences the printmaking traditions in Brittany. Through May 11 at the Oglethorpe University Museum of Art. Admission is $10 and $5 for students and senior citizens. Children under 12 are admitted free. 404-364-8555. www.oglethorpe.edu.

COURAGE: THE VISION TO END SEGREGATION, THE GUTS TO FIGHT FOR IT
This exhibit tells the story of Rev. J.A. De Laine and other citizens of Clarendon County, S.C. as they fought to end the legal segregation of schools. Their lawsuit was one of five that led to the Supreme Court case Brown v. Board of Education. On display through June 22 at the Atlanta History Center. THE LOUVRE AND THE ANCIENT WORLD
