GEORGIA RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL
The annual fair features jousting knights and a host of other performances, as well as plenty of turkey legs and other refreshments. RIDE FOR HILLSIDE
The Silent Partners Motorcycle Club hosts a ride to Hillside, a nonprofit home for severely emotionally disturbed children, adolescents and their families, on Sunday, June 1. The ride begins at the Publix on Friendship Road in Buford and travels to Hillside’s 13-acre campus, where riders will spend time with the center’s kids, enjoying a picnic lunch, activities and music from DJ Prince. The day ends at Anthony’s Bar & Grill on McEver Road in Buford, with an auction to raise additional funds for the center. The ride requires a donation of $20 per bike and $10 per rider. COURAGE: THE VISION TO END SEGREGATION, THE GUTS TO FIGHT FOR IT
This exhibit tells the story of Rev. J.A. De Laine and other citizens of Clarendon County, S.C. as they fought to end the legal segregation of schools. Their lawsuit was one of five that led to the Supreme Court case Brown v. Board of Education. On display through June 22 at the Atlanta History Center.
