Introduction
It’s no surprise to us that a number of Atlanta’s theater companies are thriving, even in the midst of an economic downturn. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported last month that the Atlanta Shakespeare Company had its most successful season ever, and Dad’s Garage and the Alliance Theatre enjoyed sensational seasons as well. We’ve been singing the praises of our city’s theater scene for years—and nowhere more than in our annual Spotlight Awards. Herewith, theater critic Bert Osborne honors the top of the crop from Atlanta’s ’07-’08 season, and (because he is, after all, a critic) shares 10 pet peeves.
