Holiday Happenings
HOLIDAYS AT THE ATLANTA BOTANICAL GARDEN
Train rides are available weekends in December at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Rides are $2. Botanical St. Nick arrives on Dec. 8 and is also available for photos Dec. 9, 15 and 16. The gardens are open from Tuesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $12 for adults, $9 for ages 3 to 17 and for senior citizens and free for kids under age 3. www.atlantabotanicalgarden.org.

HOLIDAY ART SALE
The Cabbagetown Clay and Glass Works, a non-profit artist organization specializing in fused glass and ceramic art, holds its 6 th annual holiday sale, which features 9 artists. IT’S SNOWING AT THE STATION
Snow falls at Atlantic Station’s Central Park every night through Dec. 24. The snowfall begins at 7:30 p.m. every evening, with additional snowfall at 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Free. The Steel Mill Express, a trackless train, offers a look at 250,000 holiday lights in the neighborhood. Carriage rides are also available. www.atlanticstation.com.

THE NUTCRACKER
The Gwinnett Ballet production of this classic holiday show is performed with a live orchestra. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 30 and Dec. 7 and 14; at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1, 8 and 15; and at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 2, 9 and 16 at the Gwinnett Performing Arts Center in Duluth. SEASON’S GREETINGS

FRINGE

KING JOHN
This show depicts a country that is questioning how its leaders are chosen. The production continues through Dec. 2 at the New American Shakespeare Tavern. MURDER SHE IMPROVISED

THE SHOEMAKER AND THE ELVES
This puppet show is based on the tale of the struggling shoe shop owner who is helped by elves. Performances continue through Jan. 6 at the Center for Puppetry Arts. Tickets, which include a puppet-making workshop and admission to the puppet museum, are $16. www.puppet.org.

ALICE’S WONDERLAND
Based on the stories by Lewis Carroll, this exhibit helps kids learn about math, science and reading. It continues through Jan. 13 at Imagine It! The Children's Museum of Atlanta. FROGS: A CHORUS OF COLORS
Learn all about amphibians as this exhibit returns to the Fernbank Museum of Natural History. The show, which was first displayed at the museum in 2005, continues through Jan. 6. The Fernbank museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. SMALL WORKS

THE LOUVRE AND THE ANCIENT WORLD
This exhibit features more 70 works from the cultures of Greece, Rome and Egypt. It continues through Sept. 7, 2008 at the High Museum of Art. “Harry Callahan: Eleanor,” an exhibit that includes more than 100 photographs of Callahan’s wife, Eleanor, continues through Dec. 9. “Inspiring Impression,” which traces the influences of artists such as Degas, Monet, Manet and Renior, continues through Jan. 13, 2008.
