I'm passionate about red wines. It all started with merlot since that's what my mother loves, but my fondness for red wines now includes malbec, tempranillo, sangiovese and shiraz. Thus, I rarely order a white wine. If I'm having poultry or fish, I usually go for a pinot noir. So last night when my partner and I ended our shopping spree at Perimeter Mall with a dinner at
Seasons 52, I suprised myself when I ordered a white wine to accompany my farm-fresh chicken over wild rice. I wanted a warm, buttery Chardonnay, and our server gushed about the ZD, California ’04. She was so passionate about this wine that I had to say yes--at least to a tasting. I fell in love at first swish. It was full of notes of butter and caramel, with a refreshing zing at the end. A glass is $12, and it's worth every cent.
